A London cable message states that the Earl of Liverpool, G.C.M.G., M.V.0., Governor-General of New Zealand, has been created a Privy Councillor. Mr W. Carson has been appointed mill foreman at the Dominion Portland Cement Company's works. The separate question of filling the managerial position on the expiration of Mr Davis' term some two months hence is now under consideration. A communication from the Minister of Defence records the wounding of Private Matthew Robinson, son of Mrs A. V. Harkens, of Whangarei. Private Robinson, who is the brother of Mrs W. 11. Price, of Bank street, Whangarei, enlisted from Dargaville with the I:3th Reinforcements, and this is the second occasion on which he has been placed hors de combat since going on active service.
