A German official message says: News is to hand wirelessty that yon Hollweg's first sentences evoked applause from all sides and after every paragraph of the first portion of the speech had been read the assembly demonstratively assented. But later, when it came to the peace question differences of opinion were manifested and the applause was mainly from the Catholic Centre and Left. After the Chancellor had ended the majority of the House along the lines mentioned applauded and the people in the gallery joined in by clapping hands and malting a huge demonstration. Herrs Basserman, Westarp, arid Lederour favoured an immediate discussion, but Herr Spahn 's proposal lor leaving the summoning of tho next sitting to the president's discretion was voted for by an overwhelming majority.
