NO. 3 GROUP MEETING.
The "shoot" meeting of tb' No! 0 Group was h<dd on the Otaikn range en Thursday k»i:.l Friday of this week, i:» charge of Lieutenant E. T. RowUings, NT.Z.S.C , area officer. The butts were under the supervision of Staff Sergt.Major Tenim, whose accurate marking was commented on as distinctly expert. The timing of the snap-shooting was practically perfect, and was stop-watch checked by Mr Waters. Labour demands prevented ,a c.qin|>rehensivo appearance of Marsden Defence Rifle contestants, the Mangapai, Kamo, Maungakaramea, Parua Bay troops and the Whangarei "A" Platoon being the only ones who took part. A few men of the 15th (North Auckland) Regiment competed, but in common with the 11th (North Auckland Mounted Rifles) the paucity of. attendance was due to absence of" members at the froni or in training camps. Members of the High School cadets and~s6th Company Senior Cadets were well in evidence and their shooting was creditable Senior Cadet Morrison, of Maungatapere (son of vice-president Morrison, of the Maungatapere Troop Marsden Defence Rifles), secured first place for cadet honours. At the close of the meeting all the competitors expressed themselves well satisfied with the conduct of the meeting, which was carried through in a, most satisfactory manner.
