WHERE IS THE DESERTER?

AN ANTI-GERMAN LEAGUE , ; APPEAL. Mrs S. J. Moore, secretary of..the Wellington Anti-Gorman League,' writes as follows to the-editor of the "New Zealand Times":— . . it is row over two months since our league reported to the Government that they had reliable information that a soldier of alien parentage had deserted from our forces in France, and had given information to the enemy which resulted in many casualties in our ranks. No mention of the man was made in the list of prisoners of war which was published recently, though the Defence Minitser had declared that the alleged deserter was in the Dulmen prison. To-day we have received reliable and trustworthy information that the deserter's name has been removed from the list of prisoners and posted as "deserter to the enemy." Perhaps the public will understand why the league is still urging the withdrawal of men of alien parentage from our forces There are many names amongst recent lists of enlistments which are undoubtedly German, and even in our camps there arc men who have n> right, to stand beside our brive boys. Our motto U: "Take no rinks, Once a Gorman, always a German." The Delbruck law, wilh its provision for double nationality, proves our contention, and th* sinking of hospital ships is the latest development of the brutality of the Hun, wiMi w'.iom. according to the vVcting-Prime Minister, we must carry on business whenever the war is over. Where are the mothers ■uul fathers of our brave New Zealand boys who have laid down their lives to break the, power of the German monsters? Will they never come forward to help us to stop the danger of treachery in our ranks, as well as brutality to prisoners who are now menaced by . inoculation by disease as well as starvation and cruelty?
