THE SUBMARINE MENACE.
WARNING FROM LORD BERESFORD. Australian and N Z Cable Association. (Press Assn.- —Reed. 530 p.m.) LONDON. December 1. Lord Beresford, addressing a meeting, declared: "The Germans are now going to send submarines into the Pacific and other British trade routes. It will be a crime to allow merchantmen to go to sea unarmed. We ought to have 1000 aeroplanes over Zeebrugge day and night with instruction to pulverise the place. The meeting carried a resolution demanding a more effective blockade of the Germans, and that more efficient steps be taken for dealing with the submarine menace.
