HUKERENUI.

The whole district is looking well The last warm rains made the grass grow, and all stock looks fine. Judging from the amount of cream that is delivered to the railway station the cows must be milking well. Sheep shearing has been finished and quite c lot of wool (T should think- well on tr a £1000 worth) has been shipped froir. here this season/ I am very sorry to have to report that Mrs Win Parsons, senr , of Tapuhi, one of our pioneer settlers, is very indisposed, so much so that she is almost an invalid. 1 We are all very pleased to see the ■ Bay of Islands County road grader under the able management of Mr Fred . Marshall in the district. lit my opinion the Bay of Islands County Council deserve great praise for the good condition they keep their roads in T cannot say that for the Whangare' County Council, for if the road. throughout the County are anything like they are about here they are <° disgrace." Four horses cannot pull ? . light waggon anywhere on the mair road yet. We are all pleased to see Mr Ed ward Rowley about again after th< very severe attack of illness which ne cessitated his removal to the Whanga rei hospital, where he lay for some time in a very critical state. A fali from a horse seems to have been the cause of the illness. One of our most respected and enterprising settlers, Mr Edward Wilson, has been drawn in the first ballot, and he is now making arrangements to reply to the call. His Mother and father are both on the verge of 80 years. Another of our enterprising settlers..Murdock Sinclair, leaves at ar early date.
