LONDON, November 30
In view of the fall of K'nipohmg and General Mackensen's continued advance experts are less optimistic regarding the chance of saving Bucharest. It is unlikely the heavy, longrange guns have yet reached the vicinity, but the German advance guards are within eighteen miles of the capital. M. Brialmont planned the Bucharest forts. They resemble those o* Antwerp and are basm 1 upon of forts surrounding the inner civ-jie with advanced defence wo.ks, jteel protected cupolas, mobile armoured towers armed with g.nits which can easily be brought 'o bear o.i threatened points, as the whole circle of fortifications is connected by railways. All the armour and guns are from Krupps. The defence of the fortress will require at least 100,000 men.
