Cables to hand show that Kovno fell before terrific German onslaughts, niade without regard for loss of life. It is said that 120,000 Germans were lost at Kovno irrespective of the last two days' figrhting In which the slaughter was awful. They have paid dearly for the victory. Xovo Georgievsk has also fallen and the Kaiser has gone East to make speeches.
The Western front is quiet. There are stories of a big , new British gain, but they lack official confirmation. Lord Kitchener has been to the front, and returns more confident than ever.
Xe>vs from the other fronts is not important. The Arabic affair has caused a sensation in America.
