MORE WAR RUMOURS.

Italy has not yet declared war against Austria.. It is unjust, however, to accuse her of Hitting on a rail. She is merely waiting until the macaroni crop is ripe. Reports from Norway indicate that a naval encounter has taken place off the Norwegian coast. Loud reports have been heard at sea. This, however, may have been caused by whelks climbing up the German mine cables and exploding the mines.

It is rumoured that Austria is making overtures for peace. A lot of good overtures ' have been made in Austria, notably the overtures to "Don Giovanni" and to Fidelio." But this would be the best Austria ever made. An act of heroism is reported from tho trenches. A German lieutenant, while beating a Belgian child to death with a gun-butt, was blown up by n shell. As be sailed ovor the British trenches at a height of 400 metres he cried "Deutschlaud über alles." The Kaiser has decorated his left boot, which fell in the German lines, with the order of the Iron Gross. The guubutt has been knighted.

It is not true that the Germans are without reserves. The Octogenarains have not vet boon called out.
