KIRIPAKA.
Mr Tattley, our enterprising mine manager, drove his new car over from Hikurangi on Saturday. Two of the small bridges need attention before We can claim to have an ideal motoring track to Whangarei. We understand the bridge at the far end of the village is to be replaced hy a culvert, but the small bridge near the store , requires several new planks.
Mr Alec. CuthbertSon has had an acetylene gas plant installed at his billiard room* and judging by reports it is a decided improvement on kerosene lights. -
Mr Miller, the popular hotelkeeper of Ngunguru, has sold his business to Mr Burdett. Mr Miller will be sorely missed as he took a keen interest in sports of all kinds and his place will be hard to fill.
Several chopping matches have been arranged, the most important being between Mr John Ferguson and Mr A. Mackay. Matches also arranged are: F. Gilbert v. D. Cribbage, W. Wellington v. J. Carpenter.
A scratch hockey match was played in the school ground on Saturday afternoon, Mr M. Ferguson's team winning by 8 goals to 2.
