BACHELOR TAX.

MELBOURNE, April 22
In.the Federal House Mr Sharpe, of Queensland, amid a cross-fire of jokes, advocated a £10 tax on bachelors between the ages of 21 and 60, estimated to yield two million sterling. He declared that unmarried men and women were social evils. They were making good salaries and avoiding their.duties to the nation.
