PROPOSED MUSICAL FESTIVAL.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —As the above is creating further comment and is. taken up as being suitable for a North Auckland Spring Festival by such a musical enthusiast as Mr J. H. Walker (our local bandmaster), it seems to me, Sir, that now is the time, to call together the interested public of Whangarei. We should on- no account inaugurate a "Tin Pot" competition, but should have our first venture on a grand scale so that we could perpetuate it. In festivals of this description the Government usually extend railway excursion rates to competitors and there is no doubt (I presume) the Northern Shipping Co. would extend the same. The outcome would be one of the greatest gala weeks that Whangarei has known for manr a day.—Yours etc.
A. OSWALD REID
