CHAIRMAN'S HONORARIUM AND
•MILEAGES.
DISCUSSED BY, COUNTY COUNCIL. At the annual meeting of the Whiu —•.. r>.->arei County Council the usual custom of fixing chairman's honorarium and the new members', mileage charges was proceeded with. Th e chairman's yearly honorarium , was fixed at £50. The chairman said that he considered that the engineer should fix the new members' mileage, but a motion to that effect was defeated, and the matter was left to the council to deal with. Tae amounts approved for members attending- meetings were: Cr McLennan, 365; Cr Tattley, 10s; Cr Hay, 20s; Cr Kernohan, 235. There, was some discussion over Cr Kernohan's allowance. The councillor himself explained the position, which was that his house was close' to Whangarei, but his farm was 23 miles away. . Cr Finlayson: 1 suppose that every Thursday you would be out at jj Mangakahia . fl Cr Kernohan replied that he would be there as his business required-him. H e said that the same, point had cropped up during his connection with the Hospital Board and his claim for expenses, and they were allowed. If on this occasion the Auditor took exception,' he was prepared to refund the payments.
