Belgians Disperse Uhlans.
INFLICT HEAVY LOSSES.
RETREAT OF GERMANS SOUTHWARD.
MARKED BY HORRIBLE OUTRAGES.
OSTEND, Sept. 14. . Strong bands of Uhlans are still prowling in the neighbourhood. The Belgians dispersed several hundreds at Dixmunde (about 20 miles south of Ostend) inflicting severe losses. They captured a machine gun. ' .
A column of Belgian volunteers, supported by Civic Guards', with machine .guns on automobiles, had a sharp engagement near Alost with a German force. The latter's losses were serious. Seven waggons were captured.
The German retreat southward was marked, by a trail of horrible outrages. They entered a church at Saint Marie where four priests were celebrating mass. They seized the priests and forced them to march ahead of them. Eventually the four were killed.
