FARMING.
Much regret was felt at the announcement of the sale of Mr Hardwicke's property. Mr Hardwicke is the oldest settler in the district, and no family could be more highly respected- than liis. It is to be hoped that the incoming gentleman may "fill the gap" in its entirety. * , Mr Skelton, also, has effected a sale of his property, it is reported. I Cream is getting low, the carting being done weekly now, and for the winter months. y Turnips are fair, though the drought and fly have caused damage to the Swedes. Grass has been unusually good this autumn. THE SCHOOL. Miss Menzies, relieving Mrs Goss, arrived last Saturday to take up school duties on Monday. Much concern was felt for Mrs Goss, because of the painful accident which occurred, and the suffering caused her in consequence. She is reported as making good progress towards recovery, which news i» ~ 'nived witli pleasure.. FUN AND FROLIC. A progressive euchre party held . in the hall a week ago, being the nrst of a series in aid of the hall funds. Great amusemeut was derived from the prnie At 10 30 a dance was held. Supper was provided by Mrs Stevens and a few other ladies.
