At the annual meeting of. householders the committee's report showed school matters to be in a flourishing state. The balance to the credit of the committee was £ 15. During the some solid work had been done in the way of permanently improving the school grounds and gardens. As a result the school had won third prize in the school gardens competition. The inspectors' reports (Messrs Mackenzie and Kalaugher) had been very good. Pupils had won many prizes during the year at various competitions, their work had been chosen for the Auckland Exhibition, and a pupil had gained a junior national scholarship.
Mr Hight took the chair for the annual meeting, when the following gentlemen were elected: —Messrs S. Bobbs, J. Dobbs, J. Morgan, R. Rouse, J. Rouse, T. G. Hight, J. Bioomfield. Mr Broomfleld was elected chairman for the 18th year in succession, and Mr J. Rouse was appointed secretary and treasurer.
General regret is expressed at the painful accident which happened to Mr J. Morgan on Tuesday. About 5 o'clock he entered one of the outhouses, when he was struck in the thigh by a bullet. He staggered into the house and first aid was promptly rendered. Doctor Walker was rung up and soon arrived by 'motor-car. We evidently have among us a pearifle lunatic. Considering the number of accidents caused by these useless weapons and the fools who toy with them it is time steps were taken to prohibit their sale or to prohibit their use, unfess on properly supervised' ranges.
