"*M3uring the last week a house owned by Mr Chas Hauraki, was moved on runners by a team of bullocks from where it previously stood, a mile and a half away, into the township. The work took a couple of days.
Rain has been rather badly needed for some time and settlers are looking forward to an improvement in the fall during October.
The road grader has been doing some very necessary work between the butcher's shop and the hotel. This attention had been long hoped for.
Mr Evett, the licensee of the hotel, who is removing to another district, was entertained at a farewell social on Friday evening.
_One or two louts have been amusing themselves and annoying other people by scribbling on the walls of an old building. If the authors of this foolishness are discovered, succeeding events will be interesting.
