IRISH HOME RULE.
MR SMITH AND "HOMOGENOUS COUNTIES." LONDON, Oct. 3. The Unionist papers are commenting on the reference made by Mr F. E. Smith in a recent speech to the "homogenous counties of Ulster." The "Telegraph" asks whether this is a suggestion that the basis of a conference could be found by omitting Down, Antrim, Derry and Armagh from the scope of Home Rule? It is understood that Mr Smith consulted Sir Edward Carson and prominent Unionists in England before making the speech referred to.
