A KNIGHT AND HIS CONDUCT,
AIDING A THREATENED RE-
BELLION,
SYDNEY, Oct. 4
A sensation was caused in the Legislative Council yesterday when Dr. Nash gave notice of his intention to ask "If the Government is aware that a member of this House, a justice of the peace, and a Knight of the British Empire contributed a large sum for assisting persons threatening a rebellion against » the Government of the British Empire, and if so, whether the Government is going to remove him from the rolls of the House and justices of the peace, and report the matter to the King."
The question refers to Sir Samuel fMcCaughey. •
