THE TURF.

THE A.J.C. DERBY

Not since the late Mr G. G. Stead's horses were in Australia has so much interest been evinced in the Dominion in the A.J.C. Derby as in the race set down for decision on Saturday next. Principal interest of course centres in the Auck-land-bred colt Soltano, which will carry the colours of the Hawke's Bay sportsman, Mr T. H. Lowry, and, should he land the stake, it will be a subject of much rejoicing. Another colt in which New Zealand claims an interest is Beau Soult, which was bred by Mr G. Currie, of and his success would also be popular. The race looks like providing the strongest field that has gone to the post for years. The final acceptances are: — \Vm.
