BUCKLAND AND SONS' REPORT

AUCKLAND, Oct. 2

Messrs Buckland and Sons report at Westfleld on Thursday, September 25th, there was a large yarding of dairy and store cattle. Dairy cows and heifers £5 10/ to £11 15/, fresh and empty young cows £4 9/ to £5 10/, store cows £3 5/ to £4 5/, yearling to 18-months heifers £3 10/ to £5 5/, calves £1 9/ to £2 6/, yearling to 18-month steers £3 13/ to £4 13/, young bulls £7 to £12 12/. At Wetsfield on Wednesday, October Ist, the entry of beef was 295 head. The demand was not strong, values having a further drop of about 10/ per head. Choice ox to £1 11/ per lOOlbs., prime £1 7/6 to £1 9/, cows and heifers £1 4/ to £18/ per lOOlbs., steers £8 5/ to £15 7/6, cows and heifers £ 5 to £9 17/6. A large number of fat young calves sold readily at ruling prices. Runners £4 19/ to £ 5 9/, heavy suckers £3 10/ to £ 4 5/, medium £2 6/ to £3 5/, light £1 6/ to £2 2/, small and fresh-drop-ped 10/ to £1 4/, weedy 3/ to 6/. Sheep.—There was more than average numbers of fat sheep, with the exception of really prime wethers. Prices receded about 1/6 per head. Extra heavy prime wethers £1 11/ to £1 12/6, heavy prime £1 7/9 to £1 9/, medium to heavy 14/6 to £1 6/6, light and unfinished £1 2/ to £1 4/, extra heavy prime ewes £1 «/ to £1 10/9, good £1 3/ to £1 5/6, others 18/ to £ 1 2/, hoggets 17/ to £1 3/6, heavy shorn wethers £1 1/9 to £ 1 5/, others 17/ to £1, shorn ewes 15/ to 18/; 2176 were yarded.

Spring lambs increased in number and found brisk/ competition at high figures. Best £ 1 to £1 2/6, good 17/ to £1, small 11/ to 16/; 131 were sold.

Pigs.—l 46 pigs were yarded, and sold steadily. Values were slightly firmer than last report, no choppers or heavy baconers offering. Light baconers £3 8/ to £3 16/, large porkers £2 14/ to £ x 2/, smaller £2 to £2 8/, light £ 1 8,/ to £ 1 14/, slips £1 1/ to £1 7/, weaners 17/ to £1.
