THE EPIDEMIC.
MILD SMALLPOX NEAR
HASTINGS
HASTINGS. Oct. 3. A mild case of smallpox was detected by Dr. McKibbin at Paki£aki, six miles from Hastings, yesterday. The patient is a young Maori woman, who attended the races there on Wednesday. The doctor states that the case is similar to those occurring in Auckland and not very serious. The woman has been removed to the quarantine station.
