FIVE PEOPLE ESCAPE FROM
QUARANTINE.
SYDNEY, Sept. 1. Eight cases of smallpox were reported on Saturday and ten cases to-day. A sensation haa been caused *y five smallpox patiente escaping from quarantine. They spent several houis at Manly visiting a number of shops and hotels, and were arrested wh«» voluntarily returning to quarantine. The inmates of all places visited have been vaccinated and other pj«cautions taken.
