SERIOUS CHARGE AGAINST AN
OtD MAN.
MELBOURNE, Sept. 8
An old respectably connected man, Arthur Parker, was to-day charged with maliciously β-hooting with intent to murder George Mackenzie, according to wJiose evidence Parker, armed with a revolver, dogged him through the city with the object of compelling him to marry his daughter. Eventually Mackenzie attempted to escape by jumping down a flight of stairs. Parker then fired at him, and missed.
Parker has been admitted to bail
