SAN FRANCISCO EXHIBITION.

REPRESENTATION OF NEW ZEALAND. WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. In replying to a deputation of fruitgrowers which waited on him today asking, among other things, that a special commissioner be sent to South America to look into the prospects of the market there for New Zealand fruit, the Premier said that in view of the passing into law of the American tariff and consequent increase of business that could be expected therefrom, he thought it would be a mistake not to have New Zealand represented at the San Francisco Exhibition. At first he had been somewhat prejudiced to such a commissioner, and Cabinet had decided it should not be done, but he had since come to the conclusion it might be a mistake not to be represented.
