THREATENING CARBONARIOS.
LISBON, Sept. 3
There is extraordinary secrecy regarding the Portuguese loyalist's wedding presents.
The Carbonarios threaten that Manuel's present to his bride —a diadem studded with two thousand diamonds and emeralds, which is being made in Lisbon —shall never reach its destination. They maintain a constant watch on the shop where the gift is being manufactured.
The jeweller has requested the Government's protection.
