MANGAPAI FARMERS' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the committee of the Mangapai Riding Farmers' Association was held at Maungakaramea on Friday last to consider the sub-com-mittee's reports on schedule revision for the ensuing show, to be held at Maungakaramea on February 19th, J 914. Mr Crawford was in the chair.

The principal alterations made are as follows:—Horses —Judge, Mr D. Wallace, Mangere; chief steward, Mr J. C. Miller. Prizes were increased for pair draught horses and draught mare and foal. Three classes in blood stock were struck off, hack classes to be: 1 Ost hack under 14 hands oin, list, li.st, and l.'.st hacks. The breeder's name to be stated in "hack bred in the Mangapai Riding." The lady's hunter class was replaced by a class for light-weight hunter. Best paced horse was substituted for walking horse. Vehicles.—Farmer's turn-out to be four-wheeler, double harness, and the open event four-wheeler, single harness. Post entries will be received at the ring only for hacks, sporting and vehicle events. Draught horses, medium draughts, roadsters, and blood stock entries must, be made on entry day. Cattle.—Judge, Mr J. R. Corrigan, Hawera; chief steward, Mr A. Crawford. The following new classes were added to the dairy section:—Pen of two dairy cows; , classes for heifers, 2 years and under i> years and 1 year and under 2 years; heifer calves, hand-fed—all for dairy purposes. A class for fat heifers was added. Heifers may be entered as pens of three heifers and also as single heifer providing the three are entered. Sheep.—ln all sections classes for pen of three ewes, to read "Pen of three ewes for breeding purposes." Two classes for grade sheep, ewes and wethers, showing most points in wool and mutton combined, were added; also a class for pet lamb. Butchers' lambs to be shown in the wool. Field and Garden Produce.—-Judge, Mr E. O. Weaver; steward, Mr H. Gillingham. All exhibits of grass seeds to be not less than lOlbs. Six coloured and six white potatoes to be shown, instead of twelve. Prize for white potatoes to be increased. Field turnips and custard marrows were struck off, and classes for Hubbard squash, cos lettuce radishes and tomatoes were added. Fruit Section. —Judge, Mr Weaver; stewards, Messrs Mundell and Cook. Four early varieties were struck off. Mr Scobie was appointed judge and Mr L. P. Adams steward of the dairy produce section. It was resolved to approve the suggestions and alterations made by the ladies'committee for jams, baking and needlework sections and the following ladies will be asked to judge the respective sections: —Mrs N. P. Jack, Misses Chisholm and Reardon. The secretary was authorised to allocate all special prizes donated to the Association.
