HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S ACTIVITY.
AUCKLAND, Sept. 1
Dr. Valintine expects that the District. Health Officer in Christchurch (Dr. Finch) will arrive in Auckland shortly for duty, also that Dr. Duncan, superintendent of the Sanatorium Spa at Hanmer, will return for further duty in the North.
The Department has five permanent and four supplementary inspectors, and the City Council five inspectors actively engaged in patrolling the waterfront, observing conveyances, keeping isolated residences (there are three in the city) under surveillance, etc. . A male European broke isolation on Saturday by leaving a house in Upper Queen Street, from which a case had been taken. Dr. Valintine states that the inspector in charge has been instructed to prosecute him. This should serve as a warning to the occupants of other residences which might be isolated.
