SAVING CHILD LIFE.
GRATIFYING RESULTS.
(Received June 6, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, June 5
Mr John Burns, at Caxton Hall, said that. child mortality in the United Kingdom has decreased thirty per centum in six years, being a greater rate than in the preceding sixty. It meant ah annual saving of forty or fifty thousand lives, due to the enforcement of sanitation and the soberer habits of the people.
