FEWER COUNTRY SCHOOLS.
AUCKLAND, June 5,
Before the Education Commission this morning a statement was submitted embodying the recommendation* -ot the .Auckland; branch of the Educational ' Institute, .advocating the concentrating of country schools in fewer buildings; placing of inspectors under control of a central department in regard to interpretation of the regulations and syllabus, and a dominion scale of salaries for inspectors; more speedy compliance witn boards' recommendations in the erection of new schools; modification of the regulations for the examination of teachers in reference to scientific subjects; appointment of teachers by Boards on the advice of inspectors, according to a classified list.
