VULCAN LANE ASSAULT.
HEAVY SENTENCE ON PHILLIPS,
AUCKLAND, June 5.
At the Supreme Court to-day, Thomas Henry Phillips, a Wellington photographer, and one of a party of five who committed an assault, on George Healey in the Occidental Hotel o*n March Bth, end afterwards returned and greviously assaulted William Montgomery, was sentenced to one year's hard labor and ten years' reformatory treatment.
