OFFICIAL ELECTIONS AND INDUCTIONS.

In testimony to the increasing Strength and popularity of the Druidic Order in tbe Whangarei district, there was a large attendance of members Ifcst evening at the summoned meeting in the old Masonic Hall, the proceedings of which included the election and induction of officers 4 for the sixmoiuhs' term expiring at the end of November next. The new appointments embraced the following:—Arch Druid, Bro. P. G. Mcintosh; Vice-Arch Druid, Bro. Bagshaw; Secretary, Bro. T..S. Carmichael, re-elected; Treasurer, Br<3< F. B. Smith, re-elected; Inside Guardian, Bro. , Armstrong; Outside Guardian, Bro. Wilson; Arch Bards, Eros. Orpwood and Brooks; Vice-Arch Bards, Bros. H. Reynolds and Dobson; Auditor, Bro. F. Voice; Minute Secretary, Bro. C. Baker; Pianist, Bro. Dobson. The officers-elect were installed in their respective positions, in legal form and per medium of the tsrikingly topressive ritual, by District President Bro. A. C. Bevington, who stressed the importance of continued mutual support to assure harmonious working and further advancement of the Lodge and Cider. All the newly elected officers made suitable lesponse.. Pleasant, and encouraging ceremonies were also conducted by the District {President in the shape of trophy presentations to members Who had Taeen responsible directly for adding new names to the roll. A gold medal, fdcnated by the secretary, went to P.A. Bro. W. Reynolds, and a gold scarfpin, the gift of J.P.A. Bro. Boniface, to Q-G. Bro. Wilson, the recipients being Krst and second respectively in ■the; of new members introduced by them into the Lodge during the past six months. A.D. Bro. Mcintosh also presented to Bro. W. Reynolds a\ Past Arch attesting jbo the satisfactory tenure * of that brother's term as J.P.A. . Catering for the social side during the winter season formed a large element of the deliberations, and a committee of 21 members sat after the close of the Lodge business to make arrangements. It was decided to hold fortnightly social evenings, commencing on Tuesday next, and at which ■there will be various card games, inIcluding euchre (with trophies), bridge, ■etc., draughts and other games, reBfreshments, music, and dancing if de■sired. It was further resolved to invite the brethren of the Manchester Unity Whangarei Lodge to a return social evening* commencing at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, 18th inst, and to include in the invitaton the brethren of the local Lodge of the.N.Z. Oddfellows' Order. Subcommittees wore set up to carry out the sectional details, and Ihe after meeting ended with the customary co v tesy vote to the chair, thus closing an effective evening spent in efforts towards the improved development of Druidism and the fraternal unity of Friendly Societies generally.
