ROME. Feb. 16
Viago Chiavaroli, steward of an estate at Teramo, was recently dismissed.
He brooded over his dismissal, and did not sleep for three days and nights.
This resulted in madness, and he secured a scythe and hacked to death his aged mother, his wife, his eldest daughter and a servant.
He then set fire to his home, and ignited his haystacks.
He killed his baby and mutilated several other people, but fail ;d in an attempt to commit suicide.
