After protracted sittings of . the Wharf Laborers' Union till yesterday afternoon, it was agreed to insist on the following three demands: —

(1) Payment of 3s 6d an hour for all work after 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

(2) No work between midnight and 7 a.m. for three months during the winter, except at 3s 6d an hour.

(3) Payment of 3s an hour when dealing with explosives.

Subsequently a motion was passed that the Union executive confer with Mr Semple and the Federation of Labor in regard to future negotiations.

It is understood that Mr Semple advocated interviewing the Union Company's general manager in regard to future negotiations, and that this course was adopted.
