GISBORNE, Feb. 17.

Whangarei put up a gallant effort for the Boosey Shield, and actually came within two points of the more experienced Gisborne Band, which annexed vhe trophy. The judge spoke in very high commendation of the Whangarei Band's music, and a little more experience in other directions would have easily given Whangarei the laurels. The final figures were as follow:— Gisborne: 88-87-90 265 Whangarei: 86-90-87 263 Wanganui City: 76-88-94 .. 258 Gisborne takes the Shield and £60; Whangarei £30, and Wanganui City £10.
