OPENING CEREMONY.
A FORMAL FUNCTION
SIR A. GUINNESS THE SPEAKER
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Feb. 16. The eighteenth Parliament was opened in the Legislative Council by Commission at 2.30 yesterday afternoon, the Commissioners being Sir C C Bowen and the Hons. Baillie, Kelly, Mills, Jenkinson, McGowan, and Sir G. McLean. The proceedings were purely formal. The Speaker announced that the Governor would to-day declare the cause of the assembling of Parliament. . The members of the House, whefttad .been summoned to the Council Chamber, then retired to the House-to be sworn in. JBt
