HAUNTED BY HEADLESS GHOSTS.
A ghastly double murder is reported from Kenosha, Wiscousin, where Tasquale Marchese, a rich Italian merchant has been arrested and charged on his own confession with the murder of his wife and cousin. The memory of his crime hat; unhinged the murderer's mind, for, having confessed, he went raving mad, and had to be placed vnder restraint, in his cell. His description of the crime is a typical story of love, jealousy and revenge. He declared that he suspected his wife, aid on returning home be found her with his cousin and namesake. Pasquale Marchese oem;; the stronger man, he easily overpowered his rival, and having tied him hand and foot, he served his wife in the same manner. He then procured a log of wood and an axe, and, usinv the log as a block, beheaded his cattives. He buried the bodies in the cellar, and had so far escaped detection, but was haunted by the death cries of his victims, and gave himselfup to the police. He made a full confession, and th'i police c/uickly brought confirmation to • his story, but his mind gave way almost as soon as he confessed. Th.j madman declares that he is forever haunted by tlje headless ghosts of his victims, and raves in his cell. Meanwhile popular feeling has been aroused, and the gaol has had to be heavily guarded against lynchers.
