GISBORNE BAND CONTEST.
FIRST TEST SELECTION.
WHANGAKBI SECOND.

GISBORNE, Feb. 15
There was :i huge attendance of the public at. the first test selection contest last night.
The Whangnrei Band played superbly and was given second place in the "B" grade by the judge.
Gisborne was first, and Wanganui City, third.
In the "A" grade competition Waihi were placed first.
ONLY TWO POINTS BEHIND.
The Gisborne Band scored 88 points in the First Tost Selection, Whangarei 86, points, and Wanganui 76 points.
All the bandsmen are well, and confident of doing still better.
Additional results to-day were:—
B Flat Flugel Horn: —Miller (Gisborne) 42 points, Ramsay (Palmerston) 40.
Tenor Trombone: — Neighbors (Westport) 40, Russell (Waihi) 40, Ransford (Waihi) 39.
Bass Trombone:—Humphrey 40 and ITarwood 30 (t«ie only entries).
