NEW WAR INVENTION.
AUSTRIAN OFFICER'S MACHINE FOR MANUFACTURING CARTRIDGES.
An Austrian officer of artillery. Captain yon Henriquez, is responsible for an invention which is likely to bring about a revolution in the manufacture o<! cartridges.
Cartridge-cases, powder, and bullets are poured into three funnels of a machine which automatically measures the powder charge, loads the case with it, puts the bullets on the latter, controls the length of the cartridges, and finally ejects defective cartridges through a special hole, and the good ones through another.
The machine, which is able to man ufacture 150,000 cartridges within ten hours, is worked by three men only. It is said that the Austro-Hungarian War Office has ordered ten such machines, which when worked day and night would be able to make over 3,000,000 cartridges in 24 hours— that is, more than the Austro-Hun-garian Army v v iH want per diem in a ft ture war. .
