ALLEGED SUBORNING.
A CABMAN ARRESTED.
(Special Correspondent.) Auckland, Oct. 3.
Another development in the O'Shau- __ ghnessy case was announced day, being that an alleged endeavor was made by John Brooks, a cabman, to persuade a witness in the case to give false evidence on a warrant. ..'• , Dectives Cox and Quartermain ar- y rested Brooks, snd at the Police Court * to-day he will appear to answer the charge that be did in Auckland, on September 5, wilfully attempt to obstruct, prevent, and defeat the course or justice by attempting to persuade one Minnie Whittingham to give false evidence in tha Supreme Court, Auckland, at the trial of Martha Jane O'Shaughnessy on a charge of murder.
Mrs Whittingham is one of the witnesses summoned on behalf of the prosecution.
It is understood that another charge or a similar nature will be laid against accused.
