OUR WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY.
o LONG-DISTANCE MESSAGE RECEIVED.
UNDER FAVORABLE CONDITIONS
AVELLINGTON, Feb. 20.
Some satisfactory Avork was effected at the experimental Avireless telegraphy station in connection with the General Post Office last evening.
One of the messages intercepted came from the direction of Australia, but its terms rendered it improbable that it Avas sent from the Ulimaroa which left Sydney for Wellington on Saturday and which would be about POO miles from this port last night. Though the note Avas similar to that of the Telefunken system, the message probably originated from the station at Sydney, and may have been intended for a vessel approaching Sydney.
This is considered a good performance, but it must be understood that the conditions for transmission anr" hearing were eminently favorable las' night.
