The Sydney tramways are now bidding fair to being the largest concern of the kind in the world. The Circular quay is the terminus of no fewer than 30 routes, varying from two io 11 miles in length. Five years ago North Sydney suburb had a stock of 4-7 cars, while the new depot there is now accommodating 140. Between June, 1909, and June 1910, 201,000,000 passengers were carried, 22,000,080 car miles were traversed, £1,185,000 was earned and 55,500,000 units of electricity generated. There are 1270 cars. and 245 miles of track, and 6217 employees. That the electric system Is still found to be most satisfactory is evidenced from the fact that extensions still continue.
