BRITAIN DEPENDENT ON AUSTRALIA.

(Received January 25, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 24. The "Daily News" says that if the Imperial Conference supports Australia in regard to the Declaration of London the decision will practically kill the Declaration as far as England is concerned. The Declaration does not place Britain in a worse position as far as raw material and foodstuffs are concerned. It would be a pity if the Declaration were obstructed because it is less progressive than it might be.

The "Daily News" interviewed Mr Taverner, Agent-General, who declared that the ratification of the Declarat • ion as it stands would be heathen policy. Germany and France are selfsupporting, but Britain is incapable of providing food for her millions, and is dependent on other countries, notably Australia.
