RICHMOND DISASTER INQUIRY.
SIGNALMAN AND DRIVER DISMISSED. (Received January 26, 11.16 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Jan. 16. The Richmond disaster inquiry has concluded. Driver Allan was fined £30 for not sending the fireman to the signal box when the train was detained by the advanced starting signal. The fireman was fined £5. The guard of the first train was cautioned for not having the tail lights burning. Signalman McDonald, South Yarra, was dismissed the service, but recommended for a less responsible position. Driver Melville, of the second train, was dismissed the service for not obeying the signals. His fireman was found not guilty on a similar charge.
