PROTECTING WOMEN AND CHILDREN.
GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY WANTED.
CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 19
A deputation from the Christchur_h branch of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children waited on the Hon. D. Bu.ido with a request for a Government subsidy. Mr Buddo referred to the overlapping of philanthropic work in cities, and said a grant for such work had already been made. Possibly the Society might claim a share of it, and he would lay the matter before Cabinet. ■-
