SCHEDULE OF DEMANDS

AUCKLAND, Dec. 19. An industrial dispute has been filed Tor hearing by the Auckland branch of the Amalgamated Society of Carpenters and Joiners, and about 450 employers have been cited. In the schedule of demands it is asked that a week's work consist of 44 hours, the hours to be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on week-days, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. Wages are wanted at the rate of Is 6d an hour; with overtime at the rate of time and a-quavter from 5 to 8 p.m., time and a-half to midnight, and double time after that "hour. Provision is sought, to prohibit piece-work and to make room for under-rate workers at a lower wage than the minimum fixed. It is asked that the number of apprentices be limited to one to three journeymen, and they may learn a particular branch of the trade or the trade generally, with a term of four years in the former case, and five years in tfce latter, starting on wages at 7s 6cl a week, and increased by 5s rises v]* to 27s 6d in the fifth year. The usual clause in regard to preference is inserted and suburban and country work defined and provided for. January 31st has been fixed by the Conciliation Commissioner for hearing the dispute.
