! A panic was caused in the Nevsky [ Prospect, St. Petersburg's chief street, by the appearance of a man driving a small cart to which two wolves and a fox were harnessed. Eventually the man was arrested. A New York telegram announces the death, at the age of 72, of Rev. Wayland Hoyt, the well-known Baptist minister. His writings on theological subjects gained him wide popularity. M. Bleriot, the airman, has bought £6000 worth of land at the new pleasure resort of Hardelot, near Boulogne, and is about to erect a villa there for himself, and sheds for his aeroplanes. The largest cannon in the world, so far as bore is concerned, is in Moscow. It has a bore of no less than 36in., with a sub-calibre powder chamber about lOin in diameter and about 4ft. in length. The spectacle of a young pig following a man like a dog was seen in London-road, Kingston-on-Thames, recently. After calling at several shops the man lifted the animal into his cart and drove away.
