BACHELORS' BALL.
(Own Correspondent.)
The annual bachelor's ball came off on September 16th. It was a glorious night and the weather having be:-n fine for the last week, the roads were sufficiently dry to allow of a good attendance. The bachelors of Matapoan being a jolly lot, their ball is always looked forward to. The committee— Messrs C.' Pullman, H. W. Woolley and H. L. Clements—are to be congratulated on the success of their efforts. The supper provided ("Yoar Own" always shines at that) was of the best, the Hikurangi bakery being responsible for the feast. Mr J. Donaldson, whose fame as a musician is well known, was in charge of the band. Mr W. F. Leslie, as M.C., was a success. Between the dances songs much enjoyed were given by Mr Fred Dennis (comic) ;Mr G. Greaves "The Sailor Boy," "Getting it by Degrees," and another humorous solo. The ladies were exq.iisitely attired. Everyone concurred in the opinion that they had participated in a deliglitful occasion.
