The Australian Battleship
LAYING THE KEEL
Received June 25, 8.40 a.m. London, June 24.
At the ceremony in connection with the laying of the keel of the Australian battleship, Lady Reid expressed the wish that the ship would serve Australia and the Empire well and faithfully in times of peace and war.
In driving the second rivet, Sir G. Reid wished the ship good luck. Among those present were Captain Collins (representative of Commonwealth), Major Paine (Commander of the Bisley team), a number of Australian naval lieutenants, and Professor Biles.
