The Gondoliers.

Some very successful rehearsals have been held by the amateur company formed by Mr Hermann Lange with the object of producing " The Gondoliers." The principals are shaping remarkably well, and those who are taking the minor parts have also made gaod headway. Owing to the limited stage space, the chorus will be restricted to 40 voices. The Company will be assisted by a strong orchestra of 15 instruments —all the band parts having been arranged by Mr Lange —and the players are showing excellent form. Major G. Clark-Walker will be the stage manager, and he has the stage arrangements well in hand.

It is understood that a limelight plant has been secured for producing those stage effects essential to the complete success of the opera. Mr Massey has almost completed the male wardrobe, and the ladies' robe is in the hands of Mrs Boult.

Souvenir programmes are now being printed at the " Advocate" office, and will be distributed amongst those attending the opera. The programme will represent the most artistic work that can be turned out by any printing firm.
